Youth Group - Inter-Faith

Muslim Mosque visit.
Our Youth Group visited a Muslim Mosque in Dearborn for a tour and meet with one of their directors and discuss their faith.

The youth group has also visited Temple Beth El ( a Jewish Synagog) in Trenton, Michigan.  We had the opportunity to listen to their Rabbi tell us about the similarities between our Christian faith and their faith and how close they are.  We also discussed their differences, and their religious practices and customs.

On a different occasion the youth group chartered a bus to travel to West Bloomfield, Michigan to attend the 2010 World Sabbath Sunday.  We experienced several different religious groups and their dance and songs.  It brings all of us together to pray for each other and the world.

Out youth group also took a tour of the Holocaust Museum in Farmington Hills, Michigan.  We were able to see a short film about what happened to millions of people in World War II.  How the German army killed Jews (and other groups) because of their faith and ways of life.  There mere many photographs and artifacts on display that drew you closer to the people of that time and helped you understand what they were going through.  Were were treated to the story telling of a older woman who was actually in a concentration camp.  She told of how her sister died and how they treated the prisoners.  She even had a number tatoo on her arm to remind her of a darker time of her life.
