On January 25, 2006,  we opened the Gibraltar Food Pantry.

Since opening we have provided food to more than 250 families in    Gibraltar and surrounding area.  Some families may need only one visit to help them through a crisis, others come monthly.

We disperse between 20-30 pounds of food at a visit, depending on the number of family members in the household, to  more than 66 families a month.  We are very pleased to be helping our neighbor.

Several of our Gibraltar organizations and individuals have been most supportive, and we are very grateful for past and pray for continued support with food donations like the Post Office and recent Boy Scout ‘can-do’ food drive, dollar contributions that allow us to purchase food through Gleaners Food Bank at $.14 per pound and ongoing food donations.

This coming year, we are also asking for volunteers to help at the food pantry.  We are open twice a week –

Tuesday evening 6-7p and Wednesday morning 11-12noon.

We are inviting Gibraltar organizations to sign-up to volunteer for a month during the year to help in the Gibraltar Food Pantry.  We need   3 people for both Tuesday evening and Wednesday mornings.  We need helpers to restock shelves, distribute food and assist with taking the food to the cars.  Volunteers are asked to come 30 minutes prior to pantry opening.

We believe this experience will be both rewarding to the individuals who help, and also valuable in reaching others in need.

Neighbors helping neighbors…. Would you help -

with your time, your food donations and your dollars?

If you want to learn more, make a donation or want to schedule your organization for a month of service, please contact Sinclair Gallagher at 734-676-8593.
